Duality
Duality teaches us that every aspect of life is created from a balanced interaction of opposite and competing forces. Yet these forces are not just opposites, they are complementary. They do not cancel out each other, they merely balance each other like the dual wings of a butterfly. In order to die one must first be alive, understanding this brings through awareness that death is a part of the non-physical world that too needs to be experienced. This sculpture was forged from two identical pieces of steel representing how we all begin as one with the universe. Our unique physical form on earth separates us from this yet the essence is always there. The two entities in this sculpture are seen to be in a ‘Dual’ representing the inner battle between accepting the unknown, death which is merely the other side of the coin.
